This wine comes from the heart of the prestigious Cima Corgo sub-region and is made from vineyards planted on the banks of the majestic Douro River. Winters are cold and summers are very hot. In the Douro region, demarcated for the first time in 1756 and today known as one of the most spectacular wine regions in the world, centuries-old viticulture traditions are still respected, such as harvesting by hand and treading grapes by foot in old stone “lagares”. It is not for nothing that for centuries Port has been Portugal’s main export and its great world ambassador. Manual harvest, transport of grapes in small boxes to avoid premature crushing. In the cellar, the grapes are separated and foot-trodden plot-by-plot and our Tawny is aged in old casks. Tecedeiras Ports are only made in special years. The spirit used to halt fermentation is supplied by only the best distillers and selected for its purity and neutral flavour. In addition, we only harvest the grapes when they are fully ripe, allowing us to use spirits in moderation. We reserve grapes from the oldest vineyards for this Tawny Reserve.Download technical sheetDownload Ficha Técnica
This Tawny Reserve is characterized by its versatility, concentration of colour and delicious notes of almond and dried fig. Made from grapes from several plots of old vines (some over 50 years old) of traditional grape varieties and composed of at least four harvests, here we have an excellent Port – produced and aged in the Douro – with toasted notes of caramel and almonds, perfect to accompany fascinating post-dinner conversations. In one bottle of this quality Tawny Reserve Port you will almost certainly find more than 25 varieties of grape. In the glass we find a wine with a rust-red-yellow-brown hue. On the nose, notes of caramel, dried fruits, nuts and almonds: Extreme aromatic complexity. On the palate a silkiness, but still with some fresh notes, which gives this wine a special elegance. Please do not serve Port too warm, and instead of using specific Port glasses, serve this Tawny Reserve in a white wine glass for real enjoyment, harmonizing it with all kinds of less sugary or more caramelized desserts. Think of crème brulée or almond tart. Excellent also with spicier cheeses.
